Freiden Apartments
Dicon provided Design Assistance and General Contracting Services for the renovation of the Freiden Building in Downtown Omaha’s Historic Flatiron District. Constructed in 1923, renovations returned the building to its original mixed-use including two commercial bays on the first floor with micro-studio and one-bedroom apartments on the second and third floors. A one-bedroom unit was also added to the basement. The original demising walls were maintained throughout the apartments while kitchens and bathrooms were reconfigured to maximize space in each unit. All masonry was restored and all original windows were replaced. The building’s roof, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were replaced. Units include high end finishes with custom-built storage cabinets and murphy beds.
